This truck just isn’t for me...

After owning my 2016 Denali for 3 years, I’ve come to the conclusion that this truck just isn’t for me. I love the way it looks and technological advances it has over my 2002 Denali but I just don’t like the way it drives. Call me crazy but I feel like my 2002 Denali drives like a sports car which I can whip around corners and sharp turns. The 2016 is just so stiff and rough. I feel every bump in the road and get frightened around the same turns I eat up with my 2002.

In the end, I’ll give this to my wife and try to buy a low mileage 2006 Escalade if I can find one when my 2002 Denali gives out.

Change the wheels and tires and get a tune. Some of these get stiff suspensions when a shock sticks in the extended position and needs replacing.

You running 22" wheels or?

it shouldnt be stiff & rough.
if you have MRC on the front... could need reprogramming or new shocks.

tires can make/break ride as well


my burb rides like a comfy sports car, still riding on 22's.
however i lowered it & added sway bars.


havent you had other issues along the way? maybe it was a mon/fri truck lol

MRC is rough especially on 22’s. I would certainly double check that they aren’t seized though.

Buying a 12 year old vehicle seems an extreme option. There are lots of fun things to drive these days...

I had a 2005 Escalade. fun rig. can't hold a candle to the 2015 or 2017 I've had. My 2015/2017 don't have the fancy suspension either that they Esky did either.

I’ve heard from a few folks that they thought the gmt800 Denali was the best ever made like some say the C5 vette was. Sounds like you’re in that group. Instead of buying a mystery do some upgrades to the 06

Or just go buy another brand...Buying a 12 year old vehicle because ‘muh family always has this brand’ is straight up nuts IMO.

No where did he say this. He said he wanted a 12 year old vehicle because he is happier with his 17 year old sameish vehicle. Nothing wrong with this, I was looking for a 05/06 crew cab GM when I bought my 19 because I had one and liked it but the pricing didn't make any sense to buy an older one and was ultimately happy with my decision, he is not.

He seems happy with a decade old vehicle and it does not bother him if it is older. Nothing in anything he has said is that he wants a new again. Maybe his wife needs a vehicle and is happy with his 16 and he doesn't have the money for two new/er vehicles, maybe he has the money for multiple newer vehicles, either way he seems to really like the 00-06 GM SUVs and would like to have another one.

I know you like to give people crap about brand loyalty and not looking at other options but I really do not see the relevance in this thread.
