I clean residential carpet for a living and do a fair amount of vehicles as well. The biggest thing I will suggest is make sure you flush any chemicals out of the carpet that you put in with warm water right away. Any chemical left in the carpet will eventually remove the color.

What ive done is thoroughly vacuum, then spray the carpet with purple power, let it soak for a few mins then scrub/soak it up with some micofibers, and revacuum with a wet/dry shop vac. After its dried i go over it with auto carpet cleaner using the same scrub/soak method then I scotch gard it. My carpet is damn near spotless.

Ah, thread revival. Well I did forget to post back.

At the time I wasnt able to find any Simple Green and decided against PP. So I just decided to try some purpose made stuff, and it worked great!

Still takes quite a bit of work and is kind of pricey, but it does the job very well!

I think it was on horsepower tv or one of those shows... They removed the seats and carpet from a 94 silverado ( i think) and took the carpet to a self car wash, and used the pressure washer on the tire degreaser setting to clean the carpet...

I plan on doing this.... Once the carpet is removed, 1) spray simple green/ shout on all the heavy dark stains and scrub... 2) warm pressure wash to rinse... 3) degreaser pressure wash... 4) Scurb the entire carpet with laundry detergent let that soak in for a few minuets, and pressure wash it all off... 5) Leave the carpet out in the sun till its good and dry...

I imagine its gonna b a P.I.T.A. but 14 years of dirt, oil, grease, body fluids, soda, coffee, dead insects you name it, I think it will be worth it... I only plan on doing this once and I wanna cover all the bases and make sure I do it right... I dont want to kick myself later saying o man I wish I did this or that... Ill just take a lil info from y'alls and get it done...

I HIGHLY recommend Griot's Garage carpet cleaner. The stuff is amazing just spray it on and wipe it off. it isnt cheap but its worth every penny! you can order it online or advanced auto...... may want to grab a bottle of the interior cleaner why you are at it. I refuse to buy any thing else
