98 tahoe LT 120K on it

Started yesterday. For the first 10-15 min the truck is on there is a tick/slap from the trans. If i start it and leave it in park or N its fine. When i put it into any gear, including reverse, and leave my foot on the brake, i can hear a tick/slap/knock coming from the front of the trans. This will continue for the first couple hundred RPMs, but aroung 1500 RPMs it quiets down. The ticking does speed up with the RPMs, but the closer to 1500RPM's it gets the quieter it gets. So in other words at about 1500RPM's it is very faint. Does it in all gears untill the truck is warm. Then nothing. Truck drives fine, no issues. It sounds kinda like an old diesel, or a very faint rod knock. I pulled the truck up to a log to jam the wheels and left it in gear this AM to be able to get under it while it was doing it, and it sounds like it is coming from either the front of the trans, pretty much right where it meets the motor. I don't think its the motor because, like i said, it woin't do it in N or P. Only when in gear.
Again I can only get it to do it if the truck is cold and in gear at a stop, or moving very slow.

Just kidding. It will do it in P and N as well. But it is not as consistent, and at higher revs. like 2500-3500 rpm. But again, that is inconsistent
