Hey I have a strange issue with my 2016 Tahoe. It’s bone stock one owner before me. All the service records off carfax show that the car was dealer maintained. It’s got 67,000 miles on it and it started making a strange ticking noise when it’s in V4 mode. It doesn’t make the noise on start up and it doesn’t make the noise when it’s in V8 mode. Has anyone experienced this? I’m thinking about throwing a range device on it and running it seeing as how it doesn’t make any noise when all cylinders are activated.

If it is already making a noise in Half@$$ mode, disabling Half@$$ mode will not address the hardware problem -
it will only mask it AT BEST. More likely it will delay the eventual failure of
a part which will hurt your engine when it finally fails.

To be clear:
Step 1 DISABLE Engine Half@$$. There may be a cheaper way to disable it than a 'Range plug-in'
there may be something (a vacuum line?) that you can UNplug under the hood for FREE!
Step 2 Switch to Valvoline Restore & Protect 5W30, or 5W20 if MpGs are one of your chief concerns
Step 3 Change the oil and filter more often - no more than 5000 miles MAX
Step 4 Find out what the ACTUAL hardware problem is
HINT: It's either the valvetrain - lifters / pushrods / rockers / valvesprings / valves
or it's the Variable Lifter Oil Manifold Assembly, or some part(s) of it
