I use the tilt column of my '96 Tahoe daily. Recently I've started having trouble with the lo beam headlights not working when I adjust the column to certain positions. I can move it up and down a bit and sometimes they'll come back on, sometimes not. The hi beams don't seem to be affected. Also, the air bag warning light comes on when I tilt the column up. Has anyone experienced this issue before? And if so, any ideas on the fix. I've got a feeling I'm going to have to disassemble the column, and am not looking forward to it.

sounds like you have a short in the column wiring, and/or they are rubbing on something every time you move it.

My 97 yukon started doing the loss of low beams thing depending on angle of the tilt. Eventually the low beams went totally out when turned on, but does have high beams. No other issues tho.

I still essentially have low beams if I just leave the selector on parking/running rights only position and the daytime running light function lets the low beams work but at a reduced brightness it seems.

On mine, I believe it is the wiring harness portion in the "multi-function" switch. I have not replaced it yet as I basically have headlights and haven't felt like spending the 140 bucks or so on a switch.
