Windshield TINT
www.prescriptionwindshields.com

Buy a piece of the 70% to install on your windshield, it's a very very high end tint. I have 20% Wincos all around, plus that windshield piece WITH a black interior and my AC is on low 90% of the time..in TEXAS. You can't even tell it's on.

INSTALL
This is the difficult part. You have to buddy up with someone who does this for a living or knows who will install it for you. Part of the industry is to not go around telling everyone WHO did your illegal tint...it's kinda like ratting them out. So just keep your eyes open, or drive up to Dallas and I'll hook you up.

Hey Boss, how do you handle that winshield tint along with your registration/inspection stickers?
I may do that Crystalline thing.

I took mine off with some heat first. Then went out to a signs store and bought a sq ft of the clear electrostatic-cling film. Then I cut out a big square, placed my registration sticker in the middle and cut around it. Same with inspection.

I was pulled over a while back for expired registration and I suppose the the cop thought I was a drug dealer. He looked at both my inspection and registration, took numbers down from them and all. Never once did he notice the tint or the fact that they weren't glued on.

Prolly shouldnt be posting that too often...

You probably already know this, but the key to a good tint is both UV, visible light AND Infrared protection. The source of the heat is visible light and Infrared light. Wincos provides protection from both, but isn't as expensive as the 3M.

Wincos HCD-20
Visible Light Transmitted 23%
Visible Light Reflected 5%
IR Rejection 92%
UV Ray Rejection 99%+
Total Solar Energy Rejected %57

CM Crystalline
99.99% UV ultraviolet rejection
97% IR rejection

BOSS, great info- thank you. I have a friend who runs a body shop here in Austin, I'm going to see if he can help me out. I have 3M tint now and didn't pay too much to have it done, but may look into the Winco if it'll save me a good amt of money.

NP all tint companies make a variety of films, the key is high Infrared rejection.

I've had 5% all the way around on both my Tahoe and Caddi for about three yrs and have only been pulled over once by DPS and given a warning. APD and RRPD just cruise right by me, most of them glancing my way but not pulling me over. DPS is the worst when it comes to enforcing the law.
At least now it's 24%. Not too long ago the law used to be 35% along the sides.
I've been tinting almost as long as I've been doing a/v installation (17 yrs), so if you need anything, just lmk.

I just have my two front windows tinted at 20% to match all the factory rear tint. Never been pulled over for it and I've had it about 4 years now.

on my rear windows, i've got 5% over the factory 20, the 2 rear passenger doors 20% over the factory 20,and 20% on the front two. with the 5 on the rears, the 2 rear passenger doors that just have 20 on 20, you can't tell the difference between them and the back ones.

you won't see this in my pics, though, i just recently did this....everything is 20% in my pics
