Tints

Hey all,

I've been wanting to tint my 99 Tahoe for a while now, and now that I finally have time to bring it in to a tint shop; what % should I go? All it has is the stock 20%. Suggestions? I also wanna see what you guys have on your Tahoes (Yukons)

5% over OEM rear, 5% fronts and 5% windshield strip. I do not have the entire front windscreen tinted.

It is dark.

my current truck has what @Fosscore said. Its pretty damn dark. If I had to do it all over again I would have everything equal 15% and the full windshield tinted to 40% (but I bought the truck with the current tint on it).

I will eventually be adding a full 40% windshield to my current truck and removing the strip.

The only vehicle that I've owned that didn't have 5% over everything was my last tahoe (2008) and I just had the front 2 windows matched to factory

If you are worried about legality - 5% over factory back tint, 20% up front generally wont be a problem. Depends on your area. I say 5% all around.

Thanks guys. I think I will do 5% backs, 20% up front and 50% full windshield. Because here in Hawaii cops are kinda strict with tint (sigh) lol. I will bring it to a tint shop today and will post pics of what it looks like. Thanks again! @fiatdale @NeverSatisfied @Fosscore

sounds like you have It all worked out! cant wait to see it. im always amazed at how much of a difference tint can make in the look of a truck or car

5% over stock up front makes 2.5 on the meter. 5% huge windshied visor, 5% over all other windows in rear makes for around 1% in the rear. PERFECT

Don't you guys have trouble driving at night with such dark tint? I matched my front to factory back, and I find turning onto side streets tricky if they aren't really well lit. Not that I couldn't see another car or anything, but I worry about there being a person or animal that I can't see. Dunno, maybe I'm getting old... I kinda regret the 20% I put on.
