Hey guys, just recently finished the lift on my 05 hoe. got about 3 inches out of keys with z71 springs and spacers, and put some 33s on the factory 17 in wheel. Here is what I am thinking about next and want to see if anyone else has done anything similar or could provide some guidance.

I have been looking at fold down tire carriers that mount on the factory trailer hitch. I don't particularly want to spend 500+ on one. So i am looking at other options, maybe buying a swing down hitch adapter and making the rest. Has anyone done anything like this? or what is everyone doing for full size spares?

The picture is just for reference of the style i am referring to
Thanks in advance. DSC01680.jpg

image.png Should fit a 35"
But you'll have to relocate your license plate, I've been contemplating it

the links you posted are exactly what i was looking at doing, now the only question is if anyone else has done it, caused any noise? and the longevity of it

I've heard both good and bad from Amazon but if you stabilize it with a u-bolt, should be okay, my biggest predicament with it is relocating the license plate and getting it wired to be lit for night time driving as well as loss of rear view

I'm going to eventually get a fabbed bumper with a swing gate I think. Or try to modify one off an H2/h3

It's hard to spend the 800 from tiregate.com when you could probably spend about 500-600 on a bad*** custom fabricated one

I actually found one that mounts to the trailer hitch but is essentially designed like a second bumper and swings to the side. It looks awesome and is made specifically by an offroad company and is capable of handling up to a 40 in tire. So its got some serious beef to it. Supposedly also has some kind of special hitch wedge/sleeve to keep down on the noise one of these would make. If anyone is interested ill try to find it later and post up a link.

According to thier claim even with thier carrier installed you can still add in another receiver and tow a 750 lb tongue weight 7500lb trailer attached to thier "hitchgate". Lol not trying to act like a salesman pitching thier product but im honestly interested in getting one of these.

Yeah that's what we talked about earlier mentioning the "tire gate"

Tough to spend 800 on something like that
