When you get the message to service one of these things is it generally shot or would trying to re-calibrate it fix the problem?

I would try the calibrate procedure first. then you will know if one is bad, that's how I found mine.

My reminder comes on all the time. All four wheels do it, but it never does it unless I have been driving for at least an hour. I had the tires rotated a few months ago and it didn't do it for a while and still doesn't come on as often as it used to. I don't know why. Just one of those things I guess.

Try ebay or even Craigslist I think I have seen them between $20 to $40
I don't know what the dealer gets.

There around 65 bucks at Les schwab and that includes them dismounting the tire and remounting them. Also the can recalibrate them for you to, pretty much any tire shop can do that. You can also do it yourself if you want. Google it and it tells you how to do it, it seems like kind of a pain to do it yourself.
