Tire question for people in the northern states

I'm going to have to get new tires next fall and want to make sure I get ones that are decent in the snow. Right now on my XL Denali I'm running 275/55/20. I got a good deal on Falken Ziex a couple years ago and they were OK in the snow the first winters but this year they suck.
What do you suggest? I like an aggressive looking tread, but I don't need a mud tire. What's good? I've seen some I think I like and then seems like I talk to someone who hates them. And the opposite. Seemed like on the net a certain tire people hated them talked to a guy at a shop who said they're good.
So, what should I look into?

I run Cooper Zeon LTZ 275/55r20 in the summer but I run the same in the Toyo Open Country AT/2 in the winter, great tires!!!

If you want, you can probably go with a 275/60/20 without any issues.

I'm running a Cooper Discoverer AT/3 year round in a 275/60/20 and so far they have been amazing. They were already down to 40% - 50% when I got them, so I can only assume that when new they are even better!

I had Nitto Crossteks on my 2003 Escalade ESV. I now have have Nitto Terra Grapplers on my 2005 Yukon Denali XL. Both are great in the snow with that AWD.

BTW, on these NBS AWD suvs with these particular 20"s, 275/55r20s are as big as you can go. I really wanted to go with 305/50s, but there is NO WAY they would fit at factory height.
