Looking at a set of wheels and tires tomorrow. I know stock 20 inch wheels normally come with size 275/55/20. The wheels I am looking at tomorrow are 285/50/20. Just want to know whether that is much of a difference. Will it make the ride different and would there be any rubbing?

I have 285/70/17 on my 02 hoe and the only spot I rubbed was like a 3 inch spot on the driver side. Other than that no problems.

The 275 to 285 just means the tire is slightly wider. I doubt it will rub. I went from a 275 to a 305 so the width difference was pretty noticeable.

Yep, you'll be good. I had 285/55/20's and there was no rubbing. Now I have 305/50/20's and only have a tiny bit turning hard in reverse on one side....kinda weird, but that's it, and it's the width that makes it rub.

The rub issue on 305s can be easily solved with 1/4" wheel spacers. Just get 2 of the Dorman 711-916.

OP, you will be fine with 285/50s. I'm going to be bold and assume that you'll be fine with 295/50s. With the spacers I would venture to say you might be able to get away with 305/50s. The spacers I mentioned above solved my tire rub issue. They were rubbing on the sway bar at full lock only.
