Tire size question for new wheels.

Hello everyone.

I'm new to the site here so thanks for letting me join in. I just picked up a 2002 Tahoe and it is in need of some wheels/tires pretty badly. I think I found a set of wheels. I'm picking up a set of take offs from a new yukon that are 18" and I think they are possibly 8.5" wide with an offset of +24.

Anyway for my question. Ive read on many of the forums that I can likely squeeze a 285/75R16 if it had factory wheels. Since I dont have a lower offset that many of the custom wheels have, what size do you think I can fit on with the 18" wheels? I was hoping to not have to mess with the suspension.

some of the sizes I'm looking at are:

265/65-18 (comparable to factory setup) (It sure looks like from the attached picture above that I can fit bigger)
275/65-18 (Slight width increase of course)
275/70-18 (might be slightly to tall at 33.2")
285/65-18 (using an online calculator this is really close to a 285/75-16 on the factory 16" wheel)

285/65/18's are almost exactly the same size as 285/75/16's, so those will most likely fit with nothing more than turning your factory torsion bars, and then an alignment.

275/70/18's MIGHT be too tall..... but that;s only if you are unwilling to trim some plastic and inner fenderwell sheet metal.

Another option would be a 305/60/18.

I looked at current tires and had size wrong. They are 265/60r16.

I think I'm going to price some 275/65r18's. I'm thinking those should fit and I won't have to mess with cranking the t bars or getting a new alignment. I'll end up having more money in it than it's worth before long. Lol

I have 275/65r18 on mine. Definitely room for bigger. My wheels are +20 or 25 offset

Mine are 2015 Silverado take-offs, 18x9s with 265/65R18s. Lots of clearance, they're only about 3/4" taller (overall) than my OEM 265/70R16s. Wider, yes, but the difference in offset centers it close to OEM.

That looks good. I picked up my wheels last night and brought them into work to get tires. The company I work for has a tire business too so I ordered tires yesterday as well. I wish I got a better discount, but it is what it is.

I went with 18" GM take offs from a 2017 Yukon. They swapped out the centers for me to the bowtie. Im going with 275/65R18 Yokohama Geolander A/T G015 tires. Hopefully will have a pic up by this weekend.
