Any input on these tire brands from a ride, handling, and wear perspective in a size 285/45-22 on GM CK wheels? I have had two sets of Bridgestone Alenzas, one set factory "S" rated and a set of factory size " H" rated in 275/55-20 on factory 20's. both sets lasted ~54,000 miles but exhibited heavy edge feathering...actually wore through top layer of rubber on edges. Center of tread still had ~5000 miles left in them.

Thanks,

I have had experience with the three tires you listed. For the Toyo ST, my sister had them on her truck, they lasted less than 30k miles if I remember right, they wore out extremely fast and were kept on a aligned Tahoe that was always properly inflated. I had Toyo Proxes ST2 on my Avalanche, had them since the first month of owning the truck, I replaced them a month or two ago after hitting 18k miles. The fronts were severely worn, down to the wire, but that is due to driving around for a couple weeks a slight negative camber on the truck. For both the Tahoe and the Avy, the rear sets were always fine, both trucks had tires rotated every thousand miles. Both tires were 305 wide on 22" wheels. Toyos, atleast the ones I have dealed with don't last that long. Both trucks currently have Nexen Rodian HP tires, so far both sets have done good and were almost half the cost of the Toyos, and they ride pretty smooth on the Avy. My sis has had them on her truck for give or take 2 years, we both have to drive around 50-70 miles to get to school so they last pretty good, though her truck does not ride that smooth, being a lowered 4x4 afterall. I am probably going to get the ST2 after the Nexens wear out, only because I have two of them sitting in the shop with a good amount of thread left.

I have the Alenzas Dueler H/L on my Silverado, since it's a different suspension setup than the Tahoes and whatnot, can't really give input on ride quality, it's decent I guess, they still have alot of life left with maybe 10k miles on them. I like this tire, but the silverado breaks loose on them far too easily, somehow I am able to fishtail driving through a tiny puddle with them, but can easily drive in country trails and riverside beds with a fair amount of grip.

David,

If you are looking for a great tire that has awesome tread wear and ride comfort, look at the Michelin LTX MS2 in 275/55/20. They have a 70k mile tread life. Awesome tire. I don't even sell them and I highly recommend them.

Especially where you are in NC, it's the perfect tire to have for all year round driving.

Here the deal. I'm on the fence about upgrading to the CK919 wheel package from Robbie. Also, my local dealer is saying that the CK919's have been discontinued. The price is good but my wife who drives it everyday isn't fond of them just by looking at pictures. We are going to go to the local chevrolet dealer to see them this weekend but they only have them on a Silver Tahoe and not a Greystone Metallic. My wife is not a visual person. Also, I don't want to loose any ride characteristics, mileage, or tread life. I would also be interested in a set of chrome factory 20's takeoffs. I have someone interested in mine but I obviously have to make a decision first.

Thanks for all the input.

Did you check my website? I thought there was a gray stone Tahoe on there with CK919s. I'd check now but I'm not in a position to surf the web at the moment.

Good looking wheel, had them on my silverado. I'd run the Duelers or the Forteras before I'd run the Toyo. Personal preference only.

I have seen it on you website the only problem is the dealership lights make the vehicle color look extremely light in color so I'm not sure what color it actually is. I posted your pic hope you don't mind?

Toyos all the way. This is my 5th set of Toyos, 4th set of Proxes STs and theyve been the best tire ive owned. Currently running 305/45/22s. I havent had a set of Toyos last anything less than 50k miles, and even on my first set of Toyo ATs(35") on a heavy diesel, at 30k miles on the set they were still way over half tread. Ive had Goodyears and Bridgestones on trucks and theyve been nothing but loud and poor bad weather traction. My dad just had a set of bridgestones replaced under the mileage warranty and barely made it 30k miles before they were worn out(on a 2wd 4runner).

For suggestion on the size, if you plan on lowering it at all go with the 285/45, if you dont, the 305/45 ride great!
You can also go with 305/40 too, I prefer the wider tire, looks better on the ck375s anyway, 285s are too narrow IMO.
