Had my summer rims and tires put back on the Tahoe about a month ago. They were supposed to rotate them when they put them on however, I am noticing a lot more meat on the rear tires.

Which tires should wear faster, the front or rears?

Rears so having more meat on the rears is a good thing and means that the shop most likely did rotate them as requested... :waytogo:

:D yeah, with a rear wheel drive vehicle they wear faster because those are the wheels that get the vehicle moving and power it down the road and then, of course, the exact opposite with the front wheel drive vehicles. :waytogo:

when i knew i was going to buy new tires i went about 12000 miles without rotating and the front wore a lot more than the rear...i just thought the front was like that because the engine weight...

these trucks wont exactly burn off the rear tires

if your fronts were more worn out then that tells me they didnt rotate them

07Burb front tires almost always wear faster than the rears. On the Taho it's like that also. Mainly because they do all the turning. That's why people who do alot of city driving can go through them so quick compared to highway drivers who don't turn as much.

Yea I was under the impression all the wearing was from the front two tires... at least that's what mine do..

yup, fronts, turning, more weight on stopping, etc...they get more wear.

:waytogo: cool....then I shall stand corrected:) I was mainly goin off what I've been told all these years. I've never really noticed wear more on the front or back cuz of how often I rotate so I must have had bad info. OP, please note my error. You may want to put the tires that have the most tread on the front of the vehicle for this summer :waytogo:Thanks for the correction guys. Definitely do not want to post bad info...
