I have a 96 GMC Yukon. The front driverside tire wiggles. I have looked at all the steering and want to know if where the pitman arm attaches to the steering gear should I see any of the gear teeth?

Another vote for checking your wheel bearings, especially since you say it's only on one side.

To answer your posted question directly, the pitman arm has a sleeve that can be moved up/down to cover/uncover the gear teeth. If you're seeing teeth it's possible that the sleeve has been moved up into the steering gear.
