Ok so not much else has happened this week. However, tomorrow is payday so hopefully I can get the general maintenance stuff done. If there is enough left, I'd also like to pickup the headunit and start on the stereo.

Maintenance got finished today. I also made a change and decided to go with a JVC KWV330BT headunit instead of Alpine. I picked it up today and did the install this afternoon. Only problem I had was Best Buy sold me the wiring harness for a Bose system ($140) and insisted it would work with a non Bose factory stereo harness. Nope, didn't fit. Went back to return it, then went to Walmart and got the correct harness ($40). Came back home, got everything wired up and working on the first go. I'll follow up with pics shortly.

Did you get the chime box too?

Ok, there won't be any installed pics of this headunit. I was working on figuring out how to use the app mode, and of course it won't work. Turns out it's only compatible with older 30pin IPhones/IPods. Who the hell still has one of these in 2017? Anyway, it got pulled out this morning and is being returned. I'll let you guys know what we decide to go with after we figure out what comes next.

Finally, here are the install pics. For anyone who wants the Pioneer AV-X491BHS, it is too big for the factory depth. I had to trim the plastic and metal bracket behind the headunit. Nothing up front needed touched. Also, Pioneer requires a on/off/on pulse for the parking brake. I added a toggle hidden in the cubby to the right of the stereo. I also ran my USB extension through this same cubby. I'm thinking about removing the cubby and making a block off plate out of black ABS. Then I'll mount the toggle and a USB port in the panel.
I'll post a completed photo in a bit. It was dark when I finished.
