Painting a Grill Shell

Hi,

My body shop recommends sanding, to scuff it up-not to remove the Vacuum Metalizing, apply an etching primer, then paint.
A lot of my customers have successfully done this.

Thanks,

Phillip

I agree Paint it but I'd have it done by a pro paint it and have them put a couple of thick coat of clear to help reduce stone chips some! Also they can put it in the bake booth for better curing as this helps everything to be stronger!

The 3M clear bra has worked for all my front-end color matched parts- bumper, grill surround, even hood and mirrors. The hood is the only place you can spot it, and only if you know to look for it. Has been worth it for sure. Company here has 5 yr warr.

I'll have to check out that 3M bra. After painting the grille I took off the bug shield, looks better without it, but worried about the paint, so definitely will check that out.

here's the painted grille...
