Do the clutch fan like this guy. There’s a place where the vice grips can go that doesn’t allow the pulley to move at all. Then you just need leverage. If you can’t find a pipe that fits over your big crescent wrench, you can use a pipe wrench. You won’t be reusing that nut anyway and you might get better leverage. Then there’s the BFH too, which works better if you get the vise grips in the spot that keeps the pulley from moving either direction so it doesn’t bounce. You can do it, just have to be smart about it.

Does it have to take as long? That’s kindof painful.

It drives me up a wall to watch someone do something the wrong way... lol

I realize you just posted this as reference to the vise grip placement but it still bugs me.

You can stick a couple bolts into the holes in the waterpump pulley and use a pry bar or a wrench and pipe to keep the pulley from spinning without having to worry about bending the pulley with vise grips.

Does it have to take as long? That’s kindof painful.

I didn’t know there was a universally accepted “right way” Ken. i admit I didn’t watch the whole thing- I never do. That’s why there’s a slider on the bottom of the screen. I used a pair of vise-grips just like that. You’re not going to bend the pulley- the vise grips are only clamping the rim of the pulley. They’re not clamping the pulley to something else, just squeezing the thickness of the pulley. It worked awesome for me. I tried putting something through the holes but when I hit the wrench with my bfh, the stupid pulley bounced and the things fell out. I guess if it’s not on too tight that would have worked but the vise grip trick locked the pulley in place and allowed me to really smack the wrench. I didn’t have a pipe big enough to fit over the end of my crescent wrench since it has a bigger handle than a box wrench and no box wrench that size. Tony has already tried a few other methods and failed. This worked for me. What one person thinks is wrong might be the right way for others. :)

Or he could always hike up his skirt and hit it with his purse! Oh, and don’t forget to put on those nice high heels too! Lmao!!

It’s still his damn thong stuck in his hairy ass crack that’s causing the issue. Too worried about bending over too far when he’s under the hood with that skirt on. :head3:

Yes sir, gotta get down to Advance tomorrow. Not looking forward to laying on top of the motor again.

So while I had my driver side inner fender liner off I was looking up at the engine and I thought to myself...”huh...I wonder if I took off the passenger fender liner off if I could get to that #8 plug with ease?” I quickly got back to what I was doing and didn’t think about it again (or even look into it). Do you suppose getting to the passenger side plugs (especially #8) that way would make it easier? The previous times I’ve had mine changed was before I did things myself and simply brought it to the mechanic :rolleyes:, so I’m unsure the nature of #8 beast.

That’s the only way I can do mine with headers. I had to trim the heat shield for the condenser first.
