I have had my Yukon for a while. Over the years, there have been times I would drive it "harder" than normal. During these times I notice (as I am decelerating) that my lights, interior and exterior, had dimmed significantly. Is this just a normal thing? Maybe a safety mechanism of some sort. Or is it more likely that the RPMs are too fast and my belt may be slipping as a result?

Any insight would be appreciated.

No "saftey mechanism" for lights to dim significantly the faster you go....that makes no sense...

but if your lights are dimming when its revving faster- get your alternator tested....sounds like its not charging properly...watch your volts gauge when u do this and see if it drops......

Would it still be the alternator given the problems he experiences are when he's slowing down?

While not lights related, I have noticed that when driving the A/C works fine, but as I slow down the air coming from the vents warms up for a few seconds, then cools back off. Is it the load demanded at that time, and then the change as engine speed/ load decreases...?
