my friend really likes my yukon and offered me 4k for it. so i told him i would think about it. i went on craig's list and found this...

http://yuma.craigslist.org/cto/1663337487.html

the guy said there was nothing wrong it except that it needs a tune. he said it needs a tune because between 60-65 mph it runs a little rough. but everywhere else is perfect. are there any underlying problems that could be there other than it needing a tune? and if not do you guys think it's worth it to go from 99 yukon (vortec 350, 51k on rebuilt engine and tranny, no problems what so ever) to this? i really don't care about the gas consumption.

i WOULD NOT sell a 99 yukon with a rebuilt engine / trans for 4k.. around my area ive seen base model tahoes/yukons 96-98 go for over 5k with over 100k. just imo.. and it sounds like your buying someones headeache.

As others have stated... I wouldn't buy the Subby listed. Not that all fit the scenario, but if you know a vehicle has been modified significantly, you can believe it has been USED and likely ABUSED a bit as well. Not to mention the fact that you have a much younger/fresher vehicle in hand that has likely never been abused - you KNOW the history of it.

I'd keep my own vehicle. If you want to sell to your friend that's one thing. Wouldn't sell it to replace it with the CL suburban though.

If it were me I would ask your friend for a lil more and get that beast ... after a thorough test drive and inspection. That is a pretty unique truck ...

well i only paid 2300 for the yukon i have now including the rebuilt engine and tranny (the person i bought it off of seemed desperate at the time for money. so it seems like i would be making a big upgrade for literally no money at all.

the guy said he has all the receipts so i am not worried about that but the getting a tune done was my main worry. sometimes people say it needs a tune when something else is really wrong with it.

maybe i will ask him if wants to trade straight up because he said he was looking for a toy hauler. that's the only reason he claimed to be selling it. but the price for all the mods seemed almost too good to be true.

99coop, he says 20k on rebuilt engine with receipt and 2k on a new head gasket so i don't know. i am very tempted. i know my vehicle is a good vehicle but i was hoping i could get a better deal with this. i might be taking a gamble.

but no one knows about the tune situation or why it would run rough from 60-65 mph?

You need to find out more about how this engine is controlled. It takes more than just a "tune" to make a blower on a bored out 454, run perfect.

Having new head gaskets is nothing to brag about, it is a red flag that something went wrong and they don't want to invest the money to fix it.

Ask more questions.............. I'm sure you don't want to follow your 4K purchase with a 5K rebuild.......:)
