You might try to look up the specs on your Bluetooth OBD dongle and see if it goes to sleep, and/or what kind of mA draw it has while the truck is off.

Come to think of it my first reader was probably still plugged in on the Sierra I traded for my Tahoe. 7 years ago.Or just unplug it and set it in the cup holder or door pocket before getting out of the car
