It is difficult to see without peeling the fender liner back but that lower housing bolt should be the only 10mm bolt in that area.

BTW, Do your projectors protrude from the rear side of the housing?

I did take the liner off and shined a flashlight under there.

The only bolt I could see is one attached to a square/cube like looking bracket the same color as my truck ... but I couldn't make out if that's where the headlight tab was attached to or if it was something else.

It sounds like you've found the one. That bolt behind the liner is securing the lower black plastic headlight bracket. I found this diagram which is not the most descriptive, but might help.

Okay so first things first ... that bracket I was seeing was in fact the side housing connecting point so now I know how to deal with that next time. Thanks guys.

Took the bumper off today and it's bad news ... the rod actually is twisting the reflector adjustment screw in and out of the housing but the reflector remains unaffected. So whatever has happened has happened on the inside of the housing. It seems likely that the horizontal adjustment screw has popped out of where it connects with the reflector.

So nothing can be done without baking the housing apart. Once that's done I'll be able to see if it can be reliably reattached to the reflector or if its a lost cause ... in which case the reflector/projector will have to be aligned manually and be permanently JB welded in place.
