My 2000 Yukon 2500. Just started the other day. The tow/haul light comes on at start up and stays on. In the past I've tried to get it to turn on or go into tow/haul mode but it never would. A friend told me that I would turn on if I had a trailer hooked up to it, so I just believed that. Any help on where to start would be appreciated.

Take the steering column cover off and make sure the wires to the switch aren't cut. Google says it's pretty common.

Does anyone have any wiring diagrams? There are some 3M wire splices under the dash. Does anyone know which wires to check?

Says there are 2 or 3 wires that run up to the button. When shifting in and out of gear over the years it breaks the wire. Should be very obvious where it comes out of the gear selector itself.

Ok thanks. That's what the problem is. The rubber boot around the shifter is ripped a little so I peeked inside and sure enough to wires completely broken. Kinda surprising how little the wires are.

Good deal. I would use some solder sleeves if there is room. Just heat the ends to seal it then heat the solder till it melts. Pretty slick. I'm sure they can be found places. Here is nissans version.

Those are neat. Good idea. I might ask some of the guys I work with to see if they have any.

I'm going to have to look at mine too. Mine has been not working for a long time now. Good thing I don't tow/haul anything on a regular basis, that's probably why I just let it go. Those solder sleeves are pretty cool...

Sorry I haven't been able to get back till now. Injured wife keeping me busy. I talked to a couple of electricians about the solder sleeves. The said that they have to get really hot to melt the solder, and since its in the steering column they don't recommend getting it that hot under there. Makes sense to me. Just though I'd throw that out there.

Now I'm in the market for a good soldering gun since mine came up missing. Any suggestions?
