hey all, my truck has the tow/haul button on the shifter, and i was pulling my parents trailer this weekend, so i figured i'd test it out, however, when i pressed the button, nothing happened... no dash light, no real indication that anything had changed... how would i verify that it's actually working and maybe just the dash light is burned out? what's it supposed to do?

it should show a trailer looking icon on your dash when you have tow mode on.

do you have access to a scan tool? you could hook up a scan tool and cycle the switch to see if anything happens.

My Yukon did the same thing and it ended up being the button in the end of the shifter, they say the wires brake at the pivot point, so check that out.

There is an orange wire that is in the steering column that with years of the tilt wheel moving about and the shifter, the wire pinches and breaks. If you take the bottom of the column off, you will see the orange wire, it has 2 wires in it and usually both of them break.

I tried to find a write up on another forum but couldn't. If I find it, I'll post it.
