I'm going to be towing a car hauler, it has to be 19" at the top of the ball, 2" ball. How big of a drop do I need?

if the trailer HAS to be 19" (to be level I assume, for safer car transport), then just measure from ground to middle of your hitch receiver, subtract 19 and you should have your answer. my guess is in the neighboorhood of 4 inches....but i'm too lazy to go measure.

i know my 2" hitch leaves the trailer tongue several inches higher than the back of the trailer.

(this is also assuming the tongue load will not over power the suspension and cause a drop, ***it should not***)

If you are pulling a car hauler the drop should be less than you measure by this method, probably by an inch or more to allow for compression of the rear suspension. If you are using a load equalizing hitch (and you should be) or air helper springs then the allowance can be a bit less. Don't sweat it, plus or minus an inch is not a big deal, but you might as well get it as close as possible.

SW CT,
On my tahoe with 1" coil spacer and 33" tires I run a 5.5" drop hitch and my car hauler with my Jeep on it sits perfect.

Well, guess I'll stick with the 3.5. Worst comes to worst, I get a new one

I used a 9" drop for my jet ski trailer and other U-Haul trailers and it works fine. I do have Autoride so tongue weight doesn't affect it.

The NBS requires a larger drop than the GMT 800s cuz the receiver was moved up in the bumper.

9"?!

I use a 2" for my skis and that's perfect.
