My 2010 Tahoe is apparently only rated to tow 5,000 lbs. My 2012 Avalanche was rated for 8,100lbs. Now the only differences between my Av and Tahoe as far as towing that I can come up with is the gears (3.42 in the Av vs 3.08 in the tahoe) and the external trans cooler. The hitch on the Tahoe says that it is rated for 10,000. Are these the only two differences or am I missing something? I'm definitely going to throw an external trans cooler on the truck in the near future. As for the gearing, my tahoe seems to accelerate a little bit faster than the Av did which I can assume is because of its weight. Now Im not looking to tow 10,000lbs but there is a chance of me getting a trailer to tow my Vette which may put me over 5,000lbs.
