Towing with 2016 Tahoe LTZ

Hi All,

I just have a quick question. This is my first year towing my boat with my 2016 Tahoe LTZ. I have a 24' boat that weighs in at 5,000 with the trailer. Tongue weight is about 500lbs. Does anyone have any insight into the drop I should get in my hitch and do you think I will need any suspension upgrade to eliminate sag? I have not hooked it up yet so I do not know how much if any sag I will have but I am curious. Previous to this I had an F150 and it was not affected by this but I think the Tahoe might be a little different. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you.

Try it and see how it works out.

I'm towing my 255 Formula and trailer (7500#) and 650# tongue weight.... with 2016 Yukon with Max tow (has automatic leveling) with no issues. My air compressor for the leveling system runs only for a few seconds to level the rear...before it runs there is barely any noticeable sag.


With 500# on the tongue I doubt you will see any noticeable sag. I do recommend though that you make sure you have at least a 6000# ball...the ball is the weakest link in the system.

My prediction is that you will be fine...depending on how much gear you load in the back of the Tahoe and how far you are towing.

Just bought a 25' Sea Ray 250 SLX this past weekend. I had no problems whatsoever towing it 200+ miles home. Was a little worried being on 24" rims without a lot of sidewalk but it towed like a dream. That's a 5500# boat + trailer.
