Hi everyone. Just bought an '05 Tahoe Z71 today. Drives beautiful, seems well taken care of. I live in Canada and decided to take it on the lake today to a buddy's ice hut. As soon as I got o to the ice the traction control kicked in, just like it should I assume. But then it would make a noise that seemed to come from the dash, steering wheel area. Maybe slightly to the left. It didn't sound like it was coming from the tire. I could be wrong but it really sounded like it was coming from the steering wheel. Any thoughts on this? Is this normal? What is it? Is there something wrong? Any help wouldLD be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

The ABS motor is on the drivers side under the battery. The traction control when activated can use the ABS to slow one wheel to correct steering when in a low traction situation (I believe). There is a sensor on the steering shaft that compares "desired direction of travel" (for lack of the correct term) to the amount of turning that the vehicle is doing. If there is a difference between the two sensors a brake will activate to 0 the reading. Once the truck corrects the skid, the abs is turned off. You should see a note on the dash that traction control is activated.
