Traction Control issues

The past couple of days my traction control has been randomly coming on when I leave from a stop. It has always been on dry pavement and never on any hard acceleration. I am assuming that a speed sensor is messed up in one of the wheels. Anyone else seen this problem?

I had the same problem on my yukon And it was a bad speed sensor in the right front hub, It wasn`t reading correctly and the computer thought it was losing traction and turning on the traction control only when starting off from a complete stop.

Got an abs code for a rear wheel sensor. I assume that is causing it. Is there just one or two sensors? I Don't remember seeing any at eh rear wheels. Would it be the one on the output of the transfer case?

Just a follow up on this if anyone is interested. I found the problem.


It was a weak signal from the front passenger wheel speed sensor.

Normaly when you spin the wheel by hand you should get 100mV ac without much effort. On this hub I was barley getting 100mV when I spun it as hard as I could. All the other wheels front and rear I could get 300mV no problem. Replaced the hub and problem solved. Duno if it was the magnet or the sensor.

It was weird cause it would only kick on when I took of slowly. Since the sensor still had good continuity the abs module didn't think anything was wrong.


The hub had been replaced when I bought the vehicle so I am guessing they just used some cheapo orileys hub. You get what you pay for.

Alright, this is good to know. This is probably what is going on with my wifes Denali then... every so often the traction control kicks on when accelerating from a stop, even on dry pavement. It typically happens from a stop light with a bunch of cars behind you

You replaced the entire hub then? The sensor itself cant be replaced? What replacement unit did you go with?

And say it got to the point where it was not drivable (traction control would not go off) and she was stuck in traffic, could she just simply shut the traction control button off and be on her way?
