Traded in the Burb

I really like the Expedition, we almost purchased a Red Stealth Edition, but since we were coming from an Explorer, my wife thought it looked too similar. My only complaint was about the small center screen and kinda blah interior, I see that Ford updated that for 2022.

Very nice. The Ecoboost is definitely more powerful. Good looking truck.

I rented a '21 Expedition Max for a week last fall and didn't care for it. It had about 50K on the clock and there were some clunks in the suspension and a general feeling of being disconnected from the road compared to our older Yukon XL Denalis. Hard to explain but it felt like driving a hippopotamus might. The suspension felt like my old '84 Olds Cutlass - spongy and bobbly. My wife didn't care for it either. GM has a far better suspension setup with the megnetorheological shocks. I liked the Ecoboost engine and the dash layout though.

I've always thought the interior of the 2018+ Expedition is better than the GM twins. I was *this* close to buying a new 2018 Expy back in the day but cranking up the 6.2 really hits me where it counts. If you don't mind the good performance (and poor sound) of the 3.5, the Expy is a winner. Good luck with the truck.

3.5 EB sounds like nothing. Definitely not a gurgly 6.2. It’s ballsy as heck, though, and gets good mpg.

19 Expedition Switchgear is more uniform-ly good quality than our ‘22 Burb, which had some flimsy HVAC buttons. Ergonomics work better for me, ie I prefer the rotary shifter to the stupid dash buttons, it has a sunglass holder, it has a spot on the dash to toss keys and glasses, etc. Some of it personal Preference.

The Burb has more cargo space, but the Expy max is enough for us. And The Burb sounds cooler, even with the 5.3…..

Yeah, I wouldn't consider anything earlier than a 2021 with the older dash design. At 50k miles, the shocks could have been leaking which appears to be a common problem with MagneRide/CCD suspensions. I believe the CCD suspension = MagneRide on the Expeditions.

Honestly, they are both body on frame SUVs with fully independent suspensions. If there's a difference in handling, it's not going to be night and day like comparing a pickup to a sports car.

Sharp looking ride, I think that looks much nicer than the new suburban/tahoe and almost looks as good as a new yukon...I saw a brand new expedition in person for the first time the other day and it looks dope. Ford is killing it in the styling department. The looks of Fords suvs and trucks blows GM's offerings out of the water

Totally agree on the styling. I drove an Expedition and a Denali with the 10 speed. The GMC was calibrated better. The Ford really hung on to a gear if you accelerated hard and then backed off the throttle. Both were 2019's so the Ford may have had some updates in newer models.....

Good luck !!! My daughter is a warranty claims adjuster for Ford and she does a ton of claims on the 3.5 cam phasers, exhaust manifold and the sunroof assemblies. Just a heads up
