I'd try to get it for a lower price. Also, drive it again and listen for sounds...especially when accelerating. Listen at lower speeds, like 30 mph. See if you hear a groaning/moaning sound when you press the gas and goes away when you let off the gas. If so, most likely the carrier bearings in the front diff are shot and need replacing.

What are your preferences--you more of a 'street' guy or 'offroad' look? The Denali for street and the that Z71 for offroad. Those are both great looking vehicles. Being a do-it-yourselfer will definitely save ya and having the resources of the TYF will make things alot easier. I love my Denali but I paid substantially more than what you are looking at spending-I had no issues when I purchased mine but aleady have replaced my rear air components.....My Denali is the best 'cruising' vehicle I have purchased to date-I love taking any type of roadtrip in it cuz the ride is so smooth.....

02 and 04 is a huge difference. Updated dash and center console along with newer leather in the 03+ models plus Denali's have way more features than a z71. I used to have an 01 z71 and was always envious every time I saw a Denali! Plus the z71 comes with a 4.8 or 5.3 and the nali has that sweet 6.0 :)

Just for reference I bought a 2004 Denali with really good shape with 134k miles on it two months ago for $8,000...it has a few dings and nicks in the paint, but inside was perfect...gives you a reason to hassle with him on price at least
