Hi team-

I just ordered a Diode Dynamics Hitch Brake for my 22 Escalade. Unfortunately, I cannot figure out how to get it working in the trailer app. It looks like there is supposed to be an option to activate the seven pin connector, but it keeps telling me "No Trailer Profile Has Been Created" and I can't find it in the MyCadillac app, even thought the manual says this is where to find it. Can anyone help me?

GM, in all it's wisdom removed all the trailiering stuff out of the My* apps...look in your infotainment screen, but in reality, I don't think you need a trailer profile for the lights to work. THe 7 pin connector should be active at all times.

I will say, this vehicle has a bunch of "smarts" built in, and you may not be able to just wire up a brake light only, with no turn signals or running lights...because the vehicle has load detection built into the trailer wiring and can detect if the various trailer lights are working or not.

Furthermore, one other question? Isn't the hitch behind a cover on the Escalade? So you prefer the looks of the rear end with the hitch exposed and an aftermarket light in it over the factory cover concealing it?

I have a 36” rear bumper protector

Thanks for letting me know about the My Cadillac app...SO FRUSTRATING. I spent an hour searching for it yesterday, convinced I was missing something right under my nose. I'll have to get in there and double check the connections to make sure I didn't miss anything.

In answer to your question about the hitch and the cover concealing it - YES you are completely correct, I do prefer the looks of the rear end with the factory cover installed. However, I've installed a 36" wide rear bumper protector that attaches to the hitch and essentially covers the rear end panel opening entirely. I had one on my old Yukon Denali and it saved the bumper panel from at least two hits. I won't leave home without it!
