so around thanksgiving i noticed that my tahoe was having a harsh erratic shift from 5th gear to 6th gear. almost like it would rev up then drop and go. rpms go up fro a quick second then down. i know its not normal cause i took it to the dealer and they SAID nothing was wrong but oddly enough after i picked it up, never happened again. Until today. shifting is smooth through all other gears but especially under load shifting into the last gear i get that spazz in rpms. im convinced its a shift selonoid acting up and im wondering if i should just reflash it at school with our tech 2 but it was updated in 2011 does that matter? thanks guys

I've had tranny woes, but disconnecting the battery for a few hours (to reset the learned shifting behavior) has helped some of the flaring/chugging. Have you tried this? It would be interesting to see if it helps your specific issue at all.

i disconnected the negative battery cable and left it over night. no change the next day until i disconnected BOTH posotive and Negative cables and touched them together, **** problem gone. for now. it might come back cause i THOUGHT it happened once since but if it did it was suddle deff not as bad as before. leaning twards a sometimes bad solonoid for 2-6 gear clutch pack
