Thx. Great info for me. It was an EPIC FAIL today. I didn't really know what I was looking at, yesterday and today. I finally realized etc happened. Guy that did the cam, also did an aux trans cooler because I went with a 3000 stall converter. But he never gave me the details. I told him I wanted to also keep the stock trans cooler so I'd have 2 coolers. View attachment 190174
He blocked off the inlet on the radiator with that yellow cap, and cut the metal line that was supposed to go to it.View attachment 190175
When I saw the line, the tip had looked cut, but I didn't really think anything of it. Thought the complete line needed to be replaced. View attachment 190176
Long story short, I couldn't do it, getting towed to the tranny guy tomorrow. If I really looked and paid attention, all I needed to do was reconnect the rubber line to the cut hard line, like it was, and use a new hose clamp. When I finally realized what happened, it was way too late. I really hate wasting my time and money. I'm so pissed right now I could kick the dog, and cat!View attachment 190177
Damn, same thing they did to mine only yours let go. He didn't do what you asked if he blocked off the radiator. There is another connection at the bottom of the radiator so what's the purpose of the cap? He basically bypassed your first cooler for the trans.

This, my friend, is why I stopped letting mechanics work on my truck. Good part is it should be an ez fix. Maybe flare that hose and double clamp it..notice the shops hack job and use of clamps everywhere on mine. I redid it with all with AN fittings and ptfe braided hose. Damn Tony, seems like you've had some bad luck with the guys working on your truck. Hope this isn't too bad. Mine popped off where it goes into the side of the trans just as I was getting off the highway. Whoever rebuilt the trans originally didn't get it in all the way I guess. It's a tough spot to get to, so I'm glad you don't have to try it in the snow or cold.

I spent a few hours under the truck disconnecting the old line and trying to feed in the new line with no luck. I finally discovered what the douche did just as it was getting dark. I'm gonna let the trans guy do it and I hope he doesn't screw me over. So hard to find honest people to give you what you pay for.

You mean you got the old one out? You were almost done! The new one goes on easy after you wiggle it into place, just install the c-clip onto the fitting first then just the line in until it clicks. It's a bear to wiggle the line through the place it needs to go for sure but all of a sudden, after rotating it and feeding it, then cussing, and rotating it and feeding it, then cussing, then rotating it and feeding it, it just falls into place. Maybe
after more cussing. Lol. It's a *****.

Got my first car at 16 like most fellas. Got ripped off for near a thousand dollars and the end result was that the car was no better off then when I took it in the first time. My neighbor, a Sears mechanic and drag racer took me under his wing and taught me to turn wrenches and fix it myself. Ever since I did all my own work, even oil changes until recently as these wore out bones prevent me from doing more and more.

I finished replacing all my trans lines in October. I blew one line and didn't trust the rest. I would only recommend this on a hoist! Doing it on the ground, the awkward angles you need to throw the clips back into the trans and applying pressure to pop them in.

Never would I want to do it on the floor again. As far as putting yours back on definitely flare it before you re-do it, or have the shop flare it. If you don't, then it doesn't matter if you have 2 brand new clamps on it can still risk the chance of blowing it off again
