so i was driving down the highway today with the windows down, noticed a strange noise when i hit some bumps, thought wtf is up with it now, got it slowed down and into town and it started grinding loudly on acceleration and when hitting bumps, 99% sure its the transfer case. put it in 4wd and it goes away. drives just fine, just makes a terrible noise. if you hold onto the 4wd gear selector you can feel it when it makes the noise... :emotions122: gotta make a trip to Missouri in 2 weeks so now i get to hunt down a transfer case for a good price, anyone got one around southern Wisconsin they would part with for cheap? just figured id share my story :emotions34:

i found one at a junk yard for 350, and im seeing rebuilds go for up to 800.
i was thinking maybe i could take it apart and do it but i cant quite find a whole rebuild kit. it sounds to me like the problem is in what engages 4wd. its always had a bit of a grind going into 4wd and thats the noise its making all the time. i was thinkin about driving it to work today and taking it out after work.
if i put it in 4wd it goes away if i back up it doesnt make the noise. it has however since i bought it made a popping noise when backing up and turning.
