Sorry for the repost but I'm trying to get this fixed by tonight (wife's Tahoe). I put in a new encoder motor switch and I couldn't get the motor back on due to misalignment of the shaft. Here is my post from the drivetrain forum. I am off to get the 4wd selector at the stealership to get this fixed!

Hey everyone - I'm in the middle of changing out the sensor in the encoder motor. I have the new sensor installed in the motor and have a question about the rest of installation. I did not switch the transfer case to neutral before starting since I didn't read that anywhere, but the youtube video shows the motor connected to the electrical switch but not mated. Then the guy switches it to 2wh and then fastens the bolts. Kinda confused...thanks in advanced.

PS - there was a little oil inside the motor. Is that normal?
PSS - how the hell do you line up the shaft with the collar?
PSSS - now the switch inside truck went to 4low and the light just blinks when I press the auto or 4h...switch bad? This really makes the shaft and collar now where close to matching. Researching how to get back to original position...thx

New switch did nothing...now I guess I have to have it towed to shop. I disconnected negative terminal for 1/2 hour as well to see if it would clear anything.

I found a post that explained a sequence on how to shift into neutral but it shifted into 4L and won't shift into anything other. It's also now showing "service 4wd" So I ordered a new encoder motor and it should be delivered today. How should I go about getting everything lined back up?

So the new encoder motor is on and the Tahoe is back on the road. I turned the shaft on the transfer one position so the notch was at the bottom which aligned it to the new motor and put in the bolts as fast as I could - LOL. Had to cycle the ignition a few times and it showed 2wh and couldn't be happier.
