Hey guys I just picked up a 96 2 Door Tahoe and finished with my motor swap. I took it for a drive and noticed every time I come to a stop, when the weight transfers to the rear it feels as if something is positioning it self back into place, sort of like a "clunk" but without the noise. It's just more of a "feel" in the drive train. A little hard to explain, anyways I was looking underneath and from the axle to the transfer case it seems as if it's not in all the way...I have a picture here, all replies appreciated, thanks.

Did you only change the motor? what did the donor parts come from. If nothing has been changed in tranny or t-case it is like your driveshaft is to short. You could see where the seal has worn in over time.

Did find this perhaps it might apply to your situation.

File In Section: 04 - Driveline Axle
Bulletin No.: 99-04-21-004A
Date: September, 2001
INFORMATION
Subject:
Discontinue Flushing and Replacing Transfer Case Fluid Due to Bump/Clunk Concern Models:
1996-2000 Chevrolet and GMC K1-2 Pickup and Full-Size Utility Models
1999-2000 Cadillac Escalade
with NP246 Automatic Transfer Case (RPO NP8) This bulletin is being issued to cancel Corporate Bulletin Number 99-04-21-004. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 99-04-21-004 (Section 04 - Driveline/Axle).
This bulletin is being issued to advise dealerships to no longer flush and replace the transfer case fluid when a customer comments about a "bump" feeling when the vehicle accelerates from a stop.
When Corporate Bulletin Number 99-04-21-004 was issued, a new transfer case fluid had just been developed to correct this condition. Currently, a nickel-plated slip yoke is being developed that will correct this condition. A new bulletin will be issued as soon as parts are available.
Please share the information in this bulletin with customers who may inquire about this condition.

The shaft looks to be the proper length ^^^this was what too short looks like.

Did you take the driveshaft out and grease the spline a good bit and try that? That is a common issue thsi our trucks as teh transfer case fluid is supposed to lubricate the spline but it doesn't work so well

The donor parts came out of my 96 4 door but I only changed the engine. I know that the tranny has been replaced in this truck once and I have a strong feeling that its not the exact transmission thats supposed to be in the truck. My clue was that this trans did not have the top two flexplate cover threads opposed to my 4 doors tranny did.
