Are you moving the y-pipe to get some clearance? If so, spray the bolts/nuts with PB Blaster and hope they don't break.
I just dropped my pan and wasn’t that bad. Didn’t do anything to the exhaust other than push up on it a bit.

I like to change out the filter and then for 2 oil changes just suck out the fluid via the dipstick and then top back off. You’ll end up spending some money but you’ll get the majority of the fluid out.

Thats how I did mine roughly 50k miles ago. I'm about to change it again within the year. Don't you have to put some piece on the trans cooler that is attached to the clear tube so it doesnt fly all over the place? I didnt use the right size and got a mess out of it....plan to do better next time around.

Just got done..got filter in pan back on fluid was kind of nasty.. I got to put dex6 in it and check for leaks!!.I was actually able to use pry bar with one hand..and pry exhaust myself to get out..had a helper and myself pry to get back in.some of the bolts were a pain because of the gasket to get back in. Hopefully all is well.

My trans guy was referring to a flush from what I understand where they literally force fluid through the system before refilling I don’t think that’s what you’re doing. I had mine done at 100k.

That always seemed sketchy to me. I literally use a vacuum pump and suck it out of the pan via the dipstick tube. Not looking to potentially run my trans pump dry or something stupid.

Yea you’re gonna regret this project

I've heard the old wives tale about not flushing old fluid out of a old tranny for 50 yrs now. I don't buy it and never have.

Last Oct., while I was doing the rear main engine seal job, I changed ALL the nasty old fluid out of my 131k mile tranny. I replaced the torque converter and dropped the pan and installed a new filter. 16k miles later its going strong w/all new fluid. Lucky I guess?
