transmission issue ?

First shut that thing off. Second it that a hole I see in the tranny pan? Third that noise is beyond some attachment bolts bolt. :iom: you are looking at a teardown inspection. However if number two applies and you show now fluid on the tranny dipstick. Replace the pan and filter add some fluid and hope that you need not damage the converter or tranny pump really bad.

the hole is below the torque converter. that is where then noise was loudest. i think next weekend i am going to buy the used one and a new torque converter and have it put in.

In the video it looked to be on the tranny oil pan which would be really bad. If it was actually on the inspection cover then that is fine because it does not hold fluid.

does any one know if a two piece case will work for me? i found a used one from a 97 truck but it has the 2 piece case. the one i have is a one piece.

called mechanic and he referred me to trans shop. it wont work. according to them only a 96 will work.
since i am fed up with searching i am just going to call Monster tomorrow and order a Heavy Duty transmission and torque converter and oil cooler.

just ordered a Heavy Duty Monster transmission and torque converter and a cooler and fluid.

I emailed them a couple times and got prompt replies and when i called to order spoke with Matt and he was very helpful. having it shipped to my mechanic saved me $50.00 for shipping and just for asking for a discount got over $100.00 taken off total.

Monster Transmission is being put in right now. they said they would have it finished in the morning. due to work i wont be able to get it until tomorrow evening.

got my Tahoe back and all is well again. i have never had a hard shifting vehicle but i do now. not to hard but very firm. i have my old one and probably in the spring will tear it apart and if i can i will try to rebuild it just for the experience and sell it.
