I have a 2009 Tahoe (police issue) but am having issues with the transmission. We cannot accelerate the Tahoe in Drive or 3rd, we have to manually shift to 2nd until we have accelerated past 20 kms/hr and then we can shift into Drive and all is good. Once we go below 20 kms/hr we have to drop back down to 2nd gear and start over again.
Any ideas on what the problem could be? We have checked the fuses and the fluid level is good.

I hate my '09 (non-police version) Tahoe's tranny. Hate it. But, my issues don't sound like the ones you're having.

When you say you can't accelerate, what, exactly, is happening? Does the engine just rev and the tranny not engage, like the truck is in neutral?

Have you talked a dealer yet? I would recommend getting in contact with them. If you do not find anything out you can send me a message with your name and VIN number and I will look into this for you.

Those are "Special" transmissions designed to only go from donut shop to donut shop along with the occasional high speed forray down the highway for no particular reason... :rocking:

Try adding a bottle of Lucas Stop Slip. It's pretty pricey but I had great results when my trans on my TrailBlazer started giving me fits... Good luck!
