Hey guys,
So I have a 1999 tahoe 5.7 with the 4l60e. It's been having a rather concerning issue lately where after it enters 3rd gear, it likes to upshift quickly into a 4th gear and sometimes OD for no reason. The main problem is once it does so, it'll make a terrible vibration and noise under throttle. It goes away once you give it enough throttle to make it upshift back into 3rd, but the issue persists as soon as you lay off the throttle. This issues also continues to happen from 35mph and on. Around 70mph on freeway, it'll act normal unless heavy throttle is applied. It's almost as if it hesitates to upshift and that's when the noise/vibration begins. It's very annoying and I fear it will cause something to break.
I can keep it in manual 3rd and it will make the same vibration and noise, but not until about 50-55 mph and up.
