Anyone experienced transmission judder when accelerating?

My Tahoe 1996 with automatic transmission has suddenly started to judder when accelerating with half pedal down.

Any ideas of what it can be, and if its a well known problem can it be fixed, or do i need to find myself a new gearbox?

Check and make sure all your cylinders are firing first. Everytime i experience a "judder/shudder" its been a cylinder, ive lost 1, 2, and 3 all on seperate occasions.

Yep, I blamed a "trans shudder" on possible 1870 code convertor lockup slippage stuff. But, wasn't getting that code.

I was however getting a random misfire code. That really only happened when in lockup at highway speeds for me, not under accelleration. It did eventually get to be all the time. Mine turned out to be a worn distributor shaft gear. Which it doesn't "quite" sound like yours would be be.

Check codes. If misfire, Then, go from there. Look at all cap/rotor wires/plugs first. Quick check of looking at engine in dark, spray mist water on wires, look for sparking from misfiring wires, etc.

Then possibly, if a higher milage unit, check distributor shaft gear for knife edging...

Good luck.... Pain to trace sometimes.
