So my 2003 Yukon Denali XL finally started having transmission problems. It's made it to 230,000 miles. In my past searching i think i read that there was a difference in the transmissions that would work as a replacement but i can't find it again. Or am i wrong? I found a few transmissions fairly close one is out of a Yukon XL (non denali) one is out of an Escalade ESV and the last is out of a Silverado SS. I believe all were from 2003, are they all compatible with my vehicle?

Sorry if i have overlooked my answers. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the fast response guys

So as long as it had the 6.0 it should be 4L65? Is there any identifying marks or numbers on the case to determine what I'm buying? For some reason I was thinking the 03-06 transmission was different than the others.

there are some differences between years certainly.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_4L60-E_transmission

1993/1994 transmissions are interchangeable.
1995 is a one off year. No other year will interchange DIRECTLY (more on that later) due to the design of the valve body and PWM TCC valve.
1996-1998 will all interchange.
1999-up will not interchange with anything previous as the GenIII engines used a transmission with different length input shaft, among other things.

4l65e's are all '01+
