Transmission selector bushing

I have a 2012 Yukon SLT I had to replace the transmission selector bushing on the bottom that goes to the transmission. The problem is that the selector cable keeps coming off the transmission when I change gears like from drive to park or reverse. I have tried to zip tie it together but it still happens, does anyone know an easy fix?

You can buy the bushings from Autozone. I had to do this while overlanding 2 years back. I found that the replacement bushing material isn't as pliable as the OEM one and I had to use needle nose pliers to force the bushing material into the recess of the shift selector. Once I did that, no more issues. They come in a 2 pack which is helpful.

the fitzall works fine the bushing fix one will fail because the material they use is subject to heat degradation
I have had the fitzall on mine for over 3 years i also drilled a small hole in the nipple and added a washer and cotter pin.

It was a ***** to figure out.......in the Autozone parking lot.....in the dark.....with pouring rain in New Mexico of all places. Hilarious....

It just takes some squishing. You can also use a small screw driver to massage the edge into the recess

So I need to put the bushing in from the flat side towards the transmission?

Yes, I believe so. Once it's on the shifer linkage, then massage the bushings into the recess on the trans linkage until you can see the bushing pushed in there. Once that's done, you should be able to pull on the cable gently without it popping off. Then run through the gears a few times.

I'd also advise on making sure your parking brake works well.......I had to use it to shift the trans manually from D to R to P when that happened. It's sketchy, but is better than being stuck in BFE
