Something tells me that GM is working on some form of updates or modification to the orignal valve body design there may be a new valve body part numbers? This is probably why there are delays in getting parts in the distrubution system.

Installing an exact duplicate of what is in these vehicles may fix the problem for the short term, but the exact same failure will likely happen sometime in the future.

For the money, if I was spending it, I would consider the NextGen upgrade kit. The NextGen update kit is slighty more than a reman valve body from GM. With my experience with automatic transmissions over the years, many of the OE problems have been cured by the aftermarket using more robust parts and materials.

I think part of the problem with the OE system may be the pressures the transmission is operating at are rather high and causing valve body seperator plate leakage and paper gasket blow out along with valve and bore wear. With the different metals and different expansion rates I can see how the paper gaskets on the steel seperator plate will deteriorate with temperature changes over time.

Just my $0.02.

At some point GM removed the latch valves in the valve body and went to using only the input valves to control line pressures and clutch activation.

@Staceyr72

Only the Diesel trucks/SUV's were officially recalled for the TCM software update initially. I feel that the reason the Diesel was recalled is these trucks tend to haul heavier loads and are used for towing on a regular basis. Also many of the commercial use trucks probably have higher mileage than personal vehicles. This probably caused the transmission temps to operate higher and caused more thermal cycling, so the rear wheel lock up and harsh shifts showed up earlier.

Mark my work, the gasoline trucks and SUV's with these 10 speed transmissions will be recalled as well for the TCM update. They clearly have an Extended Warranty Bulletin at this point. With the 90,000 Cadillac and Camero's being Recalled for the same problem, this is a BIG problem.

Suggest you fill out a NHTSA complaint form for your problem. Maybe you did not have the rear wheels lock up, but maybe harsh shifting?? This will hopefully help others and force this issue to be looked into in a more serious manner.

Based on what I am finding, I will likely proactively update my valve body in my 2024 with the NextGen kit before 25,000 miles in my truck. Even if if the vehicle is under warranty and I could wait for a failure, for me $1000 spent is worth it to me because when I start my Yukon, my typical drive is 2 1/2 - 6 hours or more. So I do not need to have problems, if I am stranded during a trip, it will cost me more than $1000 for delays, hotel etc.

I added some more links and videos in my earlier post you should check out.

I hope you can talk your dealer into getting a NextGen valve body kit, if they go this route, you should be back on the road next week!
