I just had the fluld changed and as I am driving it home I noticed that it slipps from 3rd to 4th. When I let off the gas it catches and all is ok. No slipping in any other gear or when I accelerate slowly. Incase I am using the wrong terminology, what exactly happens is at some point where it would normally shift from 3rd to 4th the engine hig revs then after I let off the gas it runs normal, and it does go into 4th due to normal rpm at highway speeds.

Is it rebuild time or did the shop not seal the filter and air is entering etc.

Thanks

It could be rebuild time.... How many miles were on the truck when they did the trans fluid exchange? Reason I ask is that after 100,000 miles, if the trans fluid has never been changed, I probably would not touch it at that point and let it be. My shop won't change it for this reason.

That is not completely true as long as the fluid does not smell burnt or like varnish you can change it at any mileage without a issue. I have do it may times without a issue.
You need to make sure the proper fluid was used and that the fluid level is correct. If the filter was not seated correctly you would have a problem in every gear.
