I cant stand the giant air dam on my 15 Tahoe. I pulled it off today but am not crazy about the exposed locking tabs on the bumper cover. I could trim them off but thats kinda permanent if I still dont like the look. I am now thinking just trim the airdam to something reasonable looking.
Anyone do this or have any pointers on trimming? I am thinking of doing a tape line to have something straight to work from then clamping a flexible metal strip to the dam as a guide and cutting with a razor knife. Anything better?

As long as you mark a straight line correctly my suggestion is to take a dremel to it ... and maybe a heat gun at the cut line to soften the edge. The upshot is that it's a relatively inexpensive part to replace (I think around $100).

The other alternative is to take it to a body shop, have them cut it in half, sand it, and color match it to the truck. I did the second part of that with my Tahoe Hybrid valance, which is almost identical to the K2XX one, and it came out looking great.

I trimmed mine down on my OBS silverado. I wanted to take it down an inch, so I took 1" wide blue painters tape and ran it from the bottom to the top. I then took a Dremel and carefully cut down the tape line. Left a pretty clean line.

Use 3m +233 tape to measure and mark your line. Then use a pneumatic saw with a fine tooth blade. The 2015 police tahoes have a shorter air dam, I am going to get one for my Tahoe when I go a couple of inches lower.
