Hello,

Looking at ordering a box however the sub Ipioneer ts-sw2502 is 9-3/4 cutout and I noticed some are 9-1/8 like the MB Quart ds1 254 and Sundown SD is 9-1/4.

I know there's a trim ring and screws are on outside but if I cutout for larger am I screwed later if I want to switch to say a 9-1/8 sub? Just trying to confirm as that may switch my sub pick!

Do you have enough depth to use a spacer ring? You would just need one with the 9 3/4" inner diameter. The shape of the sub's basket would determine if this would work. If it doesn't slope inward enough at 3/4" to fit the 9 1/8" cutout then maybe you can trim the cutout a little to make up the difference. It would be better than trimming the whole 5/8" difference. But, on the other hand, if you decide to change the sub and the cutout is too big, you can use a ring just the same. It would be a wider ring to cover the larger cutout but would narrow it back down to the new sub's diameter. Either way, it can easily happen, you just need to be able to spare the 3/4" thickness of the ring.

I may, its downfiring so would be close depending on thickness. Tempts me to go with a different sub if I'll be limited. That's a large cutout!

That sub's basket doesn't look to taper in much. You may wanna take the safer route and pick another sub. Or, if that Pioneer is the best for your budget and/or sound requirements and there's not much chance of you wanting another one, then get it and address it later if you change your mind. There's always more boxes.

Thanks, going in a custom Tahoe box but don't want to go largest then blow or switch later and get another. Def don't want to buy a new box everytime [emoji51]
