Got a few requests to show the trimming of the front Z71 valence caps needed to fit 285/65/18 on stock wheels with 2.5" front level kit. The picture was from someone else fitting wider tires and the red line was where i trimmed ~2 inches.

thanks for the pics, how is the clearance at the rear of the front wheel well ?

if or when you get back by it, do you know the overall height at the tallest point of the roof rack....I visited a parking garage that was 6'-5" ....I do like the width of the tire, but I am going with an AT.

nice truck too, it clones mine but I ordered color matched door handles.

Clearance is good at the rear of the front wheel well. No trimming or modification required there. Some trucks may vary though and adjusting the caster should help if you have an issue.

I limit parking garages to at least 6'10" which is the opening of my garage. I can fit into 6'8" but it is pretty tight and those signs are not that accurate so I like to have a little wiggle room. I also have the roof cross bars.

Post pics when you are done :pimp:

pics I will do, like I said, currently have 33000 on my tires, so I am starting the hunt....I have the cross bars, but I may take them off. as my garage door is 6'-10".

You shouldn't have a problem fitting through 6'10" openings.

I am planning to do the same thing to my tahoe soon. Was the trimming all plastic, or did you have to trim metal too?

I had to trim plastic, plus alot of metal in front wheel wells. Rear only some of that plastic liner, but my tires were 325s.

Any thoughts on trimming to run 305's? The wheels that I plan to go with are available in 4.5" or 5" backspacing. Factory is 5.5" so i'm thinking about going with the 5" and the width is the same as factory. That should mean the wheel will stick out .5" further than stock and with a 305 that will add another 1/2" of width over stock.
