So lately the truck has been cutting off on me at lights, and when i'm parked. It has been doing it more and more latey, i've also noticed that sometime when i accelerate the truck "bucks" like i lose power for a sec and then i get it back... i have a code on my truck of P1345 and i have a new cam sensor to put in and hope thats it... but could the sensor make the truck do these things? any advice for this yukon newbie?

p1345 means the alignment correlation between the cam sensor and crank sensor is off by more than 2 degrees. It should be at 0.0+/-2 you will need a scanner that can read "cam retard"(most common name) and read and adjust the distributor while over at least 1000rpm on the engine. Anything below it will not be accurate. Once verified wipe your code. Why did you do the cam sensor? Is perhaps a timing component between your distributor and crank shaft wearing out like the mesh gear or timing chain?

I havn't done the Cam Sensor yet, I'm thought i read somewhere that the sensor could cause the code... when i replaced my the distributor cap and rotor, i did notice what i felt was excessive movement in the rotor... So here's the deal... my brother bought the truck w a spun bearing to fix it and flip it, they put in a new crank and a new timing chain, and all the new stuff that would go with that ( mind u both front and rear seals are leaking dang it!!!) After all of that it ran like crap, and they were tired of working on it so i bought it from them after i replaced the spider injector and also found a spark plug boot not attached to a spark plug.... it idles fine but started having these problems. so if its not the timing belt i guess i'd have to replace the gear on the distributor,,,,,

you should have that scanner ready when you do to fine tune the cam retard. Good luck. If it works try to get your new cam sensor money back. Do you need detailed intructions on remove/install/adjustment? What year do you have?

Yeah that would be nice... where can I find a scanner... I have a 1999... I actually got the sensor for free... I was ordering stuff from advance auto and I had a promo code that saved me 40.00 on orders of 100.00 or more, so I had like 3 different 100.00 or so orders and save like 120.00 on the 300.00 I ordered. Guess ill just eBay it ...

For hanhelds the OTC 3499N ($419 Amazon)covers it I believe or any snap-on unit as well I think just call to verify. I think The autoxray AX7000 should show it to($241 Amazon)

For pc/laptop based ScanXlPro w/ gm enhanced module does it. http://www.scantool.net/scan-tools/pc-based/obdlink.html There is OBDLink Scan tool/ScanXLPro software/GM enhanced diagnostics add-on which total $320. That is the one I have right now. I will grab the otc hanheld later for OBD1 when I need it. You can can download the scanXlPro softer here http://www.palmerperformance.com/downloads.php It will run as a demo until a registration key you buy gets emailed to you. But I could send you one of my log files for playback so you can see what is available for data.

It is like setting timing but you are using a data readout from a scanner instead of timing light. MSD released a Streetfier distributor that should have the body, cam sensor, MSD cap+rotor for $214 from oreilys. It is not a billet aluminum body but a great choice never the less. Not very expensive either and street legal in all 50 states. And yes you will still will need a scn tool to finalize install. Use the part numbers and use goggle shopping results for better pricing.

MSD Ignition - Distributor
Part # 5592

Coil is
MSD Ignition - Ignition Coil
Part # 8231 $50

Get the wires to or you lose the benifits somewhat. They are
MSD Ignition - Spark Plug Wire Set
Part # 32169
Line: MSD $109

Anything I can help with?
